Dr Harish Chikanna is a highly experienced consultant psychiatrist currently based at the Claire Moore Building, Werribee Mercy Hospital. With a career in mental health care that began in 2002 in the United Kingdom, Dr Chikanna brings over two decades of clinical expertise across a wide range of psychiatric settings.
During their time in the UK, Dr Chikanna held various roles in hospitals across the country, developing a broad and nuanced understanding of psychiatric practice. In 2020, they relocated to Australia and have since made valuable contributions to mental health services at Eastern Health Victoria, Peninsula Health, and now at Werribee Mercy.
In their current role, Dr Chikanna specializes in the comprehensive assessment and management of general mental health). Their approach is grounded in a commitment to patient-centred care, clinical excellence, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
In addition to clinical work, Dr Chikanna is deeply committed to medical education. They have over 10 years of experience as a clinical supervisor for core psychiatry trainees, mentoring junior doctors and supporting the development of future leaders in mental health.
